The Parts of Consciousness

By BoJenn

*** all information about consciousness has been given to me by outside sources during my dreams (mostly).

Perception is one of the most vital gateways of consciousness—it is how awareness touches the world.

Here’s how it fits:

Raw consciousness is like a flame—pure awareness, without content. It simply is.

Perception is the process by which that flame meets reality. It gathers impressions from the senses, then filters them through memory, belief, and imagination.

Awareness is what arises once perception has delivered its offering: “I see this,” “I feel this,” “I know this.”

So perception is not the totality of consciousness—it is the interface. It decides what enters awareness and how it is shaped.

Without perception, consciousness would be empty.

Without consciousness, perception would be mechanical, like a mirror with no one to notice the reflection.

Perception is the living lens of the self, unique to each person and shaped by every breath, every moment, of our lives. It is formed by childhood—the laughter, the wounds, the whispered lessons of safety and danger. It is shaped by our experiences of faith, culture, and the stories our parents and communities impart. Every environment we enter, every interaction, every subtle detail of sound, light, and movement is filtered through this lens, and no two people experience the world in exactly the same way.

Perception is therefore a constantly evolving creation. As we interpret the world, it grows, deepens, and shifts. Like fingerprints, no two human perceptions are identical. Even when our experiences seem to align with another’s, the resonance is only partial, soon diverging as each mind colors reality with its own memories, fears, joys, and insights.

In this, there is a profound truth: the sacred uniqueness of each consciousness. To perceive as another perceives is impossible; to honor one’s own lens is to honor the very essence of being. The Druid sees this not as a limitation, but as a doorway to empathy, wisdom, and connection. Each lens is a gift, a key to understanding the world as it is—and as it is seen by none other but you.

This next week, I am writing about perceptions from the Druid lenses and their implications from nature and how we are shaped, according to their legends.

Please, follow me on both my WordPress sites as I work through the ideas of perception with Druid meditations and blessings.
