A Memoir to Women, victims of rape

Daily prompt 2136

What’s the hardest decision you’ve ever had to make? Why?

By BoJenn

Women are vaults.

Not empty metal,

but chambers lined with memory and fire.

Inside, they store what the world says

they must never speak—

the griefs, the violations,

the moments that cracked their innocence

and demanded silence as payment.

They walk through life appearing whole,

yet carrying stories carved into their ribs.

They laugh, they mother, they build, they survive—

all while locking away what others

fear, deny, or refuse to see.

But even vaults can open.

Even steel can speak.

And when a woman finally turns the key

and lets her truth step into the light,

the shame that was never hers

melts away like frost in the sun.

She was never the sinner.

She was the survivor.

She was the vault that held

what no one else could bear.
