What aspects of your cultural heritage are you most proud of or interested in?
I uploaded my DNA to 23andMe in 2016 and the report showed 0.03% Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry. That surprised me because I had always been told our family were Choctaw. The test showed no Native American ancestry, and a few years later I learned my DNA had been associated with records of individuals who had been stolen. I was vaguely told that it was because of the Ashkenazi DNA.
This whole scenario fascinated me.
On my other WordPress page, I will talk about my known DNA 🧬 link that truly makes me feel alive and happy. I know things now about my ancestors who seemed to have come alive when I read about them on ancestry. Mostly Scottish, Irish and English in that order my DNA presents.
