How to-be Humorous

Is it a gift or is it learned?

By BoJenn

So, I must ask AI how to write humorously, and AI is insightful, though not 💯 accurate. Let’s see what it tells me.

Writing humor is like cooking with spice—too little and it’s bland, too much and people run from the table. A few tips:

Exaggerate reality – Take something true and blow it out of proportion.

Example: “I’m not messy, I just run a free-range filing system.”

Play with surprise – Lead your reader one way, then flip it.

Example: “I promised myself I’d start organizing… so naturally I took a nap.”

Use self-deprecation – Laugh at yourself first; it makes others relax.

Example: “I’d say I’m a multitasker, but mostly I just forget what I was doing in three different places at once.”

Mix the serious with the silly – Blend lofty ideas with everyday chaos.

Example: “I write poetry about the human soul… usually on sticky notes I later find stuck to the cat.”

Keep it short and punchy – Long jokes drag; quick ones land.

Example: “I don’t lose things. I just store them in alternate dimensions.”

So let’s play a game and create a few for ourselves.
