The Invitation to rest
Invocation of November
O Light reborn from ashes,
teach me the stillness between heartbeats.
Let the breath of the dying year
wash my spirit clean of haste and sorrow.
May the silence of November
become my chapel of listening.
May every leaf that falls
carry away one unneeded weight.
Grant me the courage to be bare—
to shine without ornament,
to love without possession,
to live as softly as first snow on stone.
And when the long night deepens,
let me remember this whitened peace—
that after every darkness,
there waits the tender dawn.
Sleep child sleep
