Is This Your Fault?

By BoJenn

Why Did You Allow This?

They will bleed your children upon the altar of war,
And baptize the earth in the smoke of your silence.

Your daughters—
offered to gilded predators cloaked in power,
their laughter sold for the price of your indifference.

Tell me—
why did you kneel to comfort?

Why did you trade your fists for folded hands,
your eyes for screens of forgetting?

Was ease so sweet, that you would feed it your children?
Was fear so kind, that you would make it your god?

They march in your name,
and still you whisper, peace, peace,
as the world burns in your borrowed mistakes.

Only because you believed they were good or even “god?”
