What’s a chapter of your life you’d title “The Hard Years” — and what got you through it?
“The Hard Years.”
They began with my near-death experience in 2019. I survived cardiac arrest, anoxic brain injury, and a long recovery that changed nearly every part of my life. I had to relearn confidence in my own mind while accepting a completely different understanding of consciousness and reality. Later came an autism diagnosis, physical challenges, and rebuilding a life that looked nothing like the one I’d planned.
What got me through it was curiosity. Every day I chose to ask, “What can I learn from this?” instead of, “Why did this happen to me?” Writing, painting, nature, and the determination to keep exploring consciousness gave me purpose. I didn’t return as the person I was before—I became someone new.
