If you could go back and witness any historical event, which one would you pick?
I wouldn’t choose a famous battle, a coronation, or the signing of some important document.
I would go back to the beginning of humankind—as far back as I could possibly travel and still recognize something distinctly human.
I’d want to witness the moment when awareness became more than instinct. When did we first look at the stars and wonder why we were here? When did imagination, language, love, fear, art, and our awareness of death begin to shape us?
And, being me, I’d also be quietly looking around to see if anyone—or anything—else happened to be standing nearby. 👽
Because after all these thousands of years of arguing about where humanity came from, I’d rather skip the theories and watch the opening scene myself.
Probably, George.
