If you could pick any fictional animal to be your lifelong companion (like a Pokémon or fantasy pet), what would it be?
My Púca would usually appear as a magnificent black horse, almost unnaturally dark, with intelligent silver-violet eyes. But it could change form—perhaps becoming a raven, a great black dog, or an enigmatic human traveler when necessary.
And importantly, it wouldn’t be my pet. It would be my friend and equal—independent, mischievous, occasionally exasperating, and perfectly capable of disappearing for three days without explaining itself.
I can imagine asking, “Where have you been?”
And the Púca replying, “Somewhere you wouldn’t believe.”
Me: “Try me.” 😏
That feels much more me than an ordinary fantasy companion.
